Build No. 06 — the gravel bike that started as a touring frame
A 1987 Koga touring frame, reborn with 2×10 and 47 mm of rubber. Parts list included.
Touring frames were gravel bikes before gravel bikes: long, stable, clearance for real tyres, braze-ons everywhere. This 1987 Koga came to us with rotted cables and perfect bones.
We kept the triple's soul but went 2×10 — modern shifting, vintage silhouette. The 47 mm Billy Bonkers fit with room to spare, which tells you everything about how ahead of its time this frame was.
The parts that made it
Wide bars, a basket for the everyday carry, dynamo lighting because charging bike lights is a job nobody asked for. It rides like a Sunday and hauls like a Monday.
